Joseph handles collection management activities including shelving, retrieval, and shifting. He collaborates closely with Special Collections’ Public Services, Technical Services, and Curatorial teams, and with the broader Library’s Closed Stacks team. He shelves new materials and facilitates access to collections. With input from Preservation Services, he identifies appropriate housing and shelving for oversized and fragile items and oversees in-house preservation program. Joseph maintains a high level of accuracy in shelving by developing and following best practices, and by training student workers and new staff on pulling and shelving. He also hires, trains, and supervises stacks students on preservation and shelving tasks.
