Photographing and Filming in Library Buildings

Filming and photography by U.Va. students, faculty and staff are permitted in most Library buildings but in no cases may patrons be disturbed or inconvenienced. Commercial photographers must get prior permission from the Library’s communications office; please be specific about the dates, times, and requirements you seek. Please note that no filming is allowed in Alderman Library’s McGregor Room. This room is in heavy demand for quiet study space and providing that is our priority.

The use of digital cameras in Special Collections requires permission from the Small Library’s service desk staff. Please check in with them when you visit.
